Washi Tape

I saw this done by an artist on Instagram, and I wanted to try it.

I ordered some really pretty washi tapes from eBay, and went to town, the one above is my third attempt, and I think it looks the best so far, the two below are my first two attempts.

I love this method for adding patterns, like what you’d find on clothing. I have yet to do
a final looking piece to see how it would all look finished, but with these test runs, I’d say I have a pretty good chance of a really nice effect.

I used the Slice knife to help me cut the tape into the right shapes. I did find the ballpoint pen I used did not write well over the tape, so I’m curious to see how my acrylic ink would work over it.

Don’t be surprised if you see more patterned washi tape in my pieces, it’s really easy to work with.

Sewing

Unrelated to what I normally post. However, this is the best hidden zipper I’ve ever sewn. This is a pencil skirt that has been laying around waiting to be sewn together for about 6 months now. I must say the finished piece is not too shabby.

Please ignore the stray bits of cat hair, Eevee thought it necessary to add her fur to this.

Pattern Planning

This isn’t art related, unless you count drafting clothing patterns as art. Here’s a flat drawing of a crop top and capris, I’m planning on sewing sometime soon. If you can’t read my notes then it’s probably for the best, seeing as people tell me my handwriting is neat, now is your chance to prove them wrong!

I plan on making these in a tropical print (think hibiscus and plumeria flowers or palm trees, something kitschy), I’m just currently pricing the cost of fabric and supplies at this moment.

Happy Tuesday!
